Alphabet-owned YouTube (GOOG) (GOOGL) is still in negotiations with Disney (DIS) for carrying the media and entertainment giant’s content on its platform after both parties failed to strike an agreement.
The negotiations between YouTube TV and Disney broke down over contract renewal terms, primarily surrounding fees and pricing.
Disney raised prices for the full suite of ESPN channels, local ABC stations, and its programming, as it believes the platform hasn’t been paying a fair price for the “best talent, creators, and content in the world.”
“We’ve been working to negotiate a deal with Disney that pays them fairly for their content and returns their programming to YouTube TV,” according to an update posted by YouTube TV on X late on Sunday. “We know it’s been disappointing to lose Disney channels, and in light of the disruption, we’re offering our subscribers a $20 credit.”
The dispute comes amid a busy sports season for NFL, NBA, and college football broadcasts, and the blackout has impacted about 10 million YouTube TV subscribers.
