Meta Platforms (META) plans to begin including how its employees utilize artificial intelligence to improve their performance when it conducts annual reviews, starting next year, according to Business Insider.
According to the report, Meta’s head of people, Janelle Gale, issued an internal memo on Thursday that said employees’ usage of AI to improve productivity will become a “core expectation.”
“As we move toward an AI-native future, we want to recognize people who are helping us get there faster,” Gale wrote.
“It’s well-known that this is a priority, and we’re focused on using AI to help employees with their day-to-day work,” said a Meta spokesperson, according to the report.
The “move toward an AI-native” future is similar to directives issued to employees across the tech world, including Amazon (AMZN), Google (GOOG)(GOOGL) and Microsoft (MSFT).
The Washington Post reported back in June that companies such as Duolingo (DUOL), Shopify (SHOP) and Box (BOX) were already requiring employees to adopt AI tools for handling day-to-day assignments.
