xAI launches Grok 4.1 with higher ‘speed and quality’ over prior versions

Elon Musk’s xAI (X.AI) released the latest version of its chatbot, Grok 4.1, today, and Musk said users should “notice a significant increase in speed and quality” over its prior versions.

It is available today at grok.com, X and in the Apple iOS (AAPL) and Google Android (GOOG)(GOOGL) apps.

“It is more perceptive to nuanced intent, compelling to speak with, and coherent in personality, while fully retaining the razor-sharp intelligence and reliability of its predecessors,” xAI said.

It can be used as Grok 4.1 Thinking and in a non-reasoning mode, which utilizes no tokens for an immediate response. It scores higher in emotional intelligence and in creative writing than its prior iterations. It also has a much lower rate of hallucinations. The Grok 4 non-reasoning model had a 12% hallucination rate compared to Grok 4.1 non-reasoning model’s 4.2% rate.

The Grok chatbot serves as the voice assitant in Tesla (TSLA) vehicles.

Grok competes against OpenAI’s (OPEN) ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Microsoft (MSFT) Copilot.
