Microsoft (MSFT), Nvidia (NVDA) and Anthropic (ANTHRO) announced a major partnership on Tuesday, including a strategic investment by Microsoft and Nvidia in Anthropic.
As part of the deal, Nvidia and Microsoft are committing to invest up to $10B and up to $5B, respectively, in Anthropic. Anthropic also said it has committed to spend $30B on Microsoft’s Azure compute capacity and to contract additional compute capacity up to one gigawatt, the companies said in a statement.
Anthropic’s frontier Claude models, including Claude Sonnet 4.5, Claude Opus 4.1 and Claude Haiku 4.5, will be available on Microsoft Azure AI Foundry. This lets Claude be the only frontier large language model available on all three of the top cloud services — Azure, Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services.
Additionally, Nvidia and Anthropic are teaming up, with the two companies working together to optimize Anthropic’s models for future Nvidia architectures. Anthropic has committed to a compute capacity of up to 1 gigawatt, via its Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems.
Nvidia shares fell 3.2% in early trading, while Microsoft fell 2.6%.
