Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has a ‘Holy S—‘ AI moment

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff gave a big endorsement to Alphabet’s (GOOG) (GOOGL) latest AI model Sunday.

Benioff said he won’t return to his regular use of Microsoft- (MSFT) backed ChatGPT after using Gemini 3.

“Holy s—,” he posted on X. “I’ve used ChatGPT every day for 3 years. Just spent 2 hours on Gemini 3. I’m not going back. The leap is insane — reasoning, speed, images, video … everything is sharper and faster. It feels like the world just changed, again.”

Benioff has called AI the most important tech in his lifetime.

Interestingly, when asked for comment on Benioff’s assessment, both Gemini and ChatGPT outlined four points, followed by a conclusion.

Gemini:

Industry Context (Competitive Shift): As a long-term user of a rival AI, Benioff’s strong switch signals a significant competitive advantage for Gemini 3 and a major shift in the AI landscape.

Product Capabilities (Leap in Quality): His comments underscore a profound “insane leap” in the core performance areas of reasoning, speed, and multimodality (images/video).

User Experience (Sharpness and Speed): The feedback confirms a superior user experience, noting that the model’s output is “sharper and faster” across all modes.

Market Impact (World-Changing Potential): His conclusion that “the world just changed, again” points to the strategic and commercial significance of this new generation of AI for the enterprise.

“Ultimately, his post is a very positive data point that speaks to the power and potential of the most recent advancements in AI technology.”

ChatGPT:

Subjective Experience: His reaction is based on personal first-use impressions rather than controlled comparison.

Performance Claims: Descriptions of an “insane leap” are anecdotal without independent benchmarks.

Competitive Signal: As a major enterprise user, saying he’s “not going back” doubles as a public marker of competitive pressure.

Industry Context: AI models are leapfrogging quickly, and only sustained, real-world performance will confirm whether this perceived jump is durable.

“Benioff’s comment indicates that Gemini 3 made a strong early impression on a high-profile user, but it is not in itself evidence of a decisive technical advantage. Independent benchmarks and sustained real-world performance will determine whether the ‘leap’ he describes holds up beyond initial excitement.”
