American Airlines (AAL), the world’s largest operator of the Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF)(OTCPK:EADSY) A320, on Saturday said only one of its aircraft was left to be fixed of the 209 total impacted by a sweeping recall of the jet by the European planemaker.
Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF)(OTCPK:EADSY), the top global planemaker, on Friday said about 6,000 of its A320 jets across the world would need an immediate software fix, a move that threatened to disrupt flights globally and during the busiest travel weekend of the year in the U.S.
American Airlines (AAL) on Friday had said the software issue would affect about 340 of its aircraft. Saturday’s update reduced that number.
“As of 9 a.m. CT, just one aircraft remains to be updated of the 209 impacted, and work on that aircraft will begin in the next two hours,” AAL told Seeking Alpha in an emailed statement.
“American expects no further operational impact related to the Emergency Airworthiness Directive and looks forward to the remaining days of the Thanksgiving holiday travel period, especially Sunday, our most-traveled day,” the airline added.
