Less than a month after taking the role, Richard Pazdur, the director of the US FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, has turned in his resignation papers, according to a report.
Pazdur, a well-respected oncologist and 26-year veteran of the agency, told other CDER leaders of his plans at a meeting on Tuesday, STAT News reported. However, sources told the outlet the resignation could still be withdrawn.
A request for comment from the FDA has yet to be returned to Seeking Alpha.
The FDA announced Pazdur’s appointment on Nov. 11. He replaced George Tidmarsh, who was only in the position for a little more than three months before resigning amid an HHS Inspector General investigation.
