Apple (AAPL) was in focus as Chief Operating Office Sabih Khan met with Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Li Chenggang, the government agency said on Monday.
China will provide additional opportunities to foreign companies, including Apple, according to a statement put forth by the Commerce Ministry. In addition, Li said he hopes China will continue to boost its presence in the Chinese mark and work with Chinese partners.
China is one of Apple’s largest markets by revenue. In its most recent quarter, Apple’s Greater China segment — which includes China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan — accounted for $14.49B in revenue, down from $15.03B in the year-ago period. Apple’s leader in China is Isabel Ge Mahe, who reports directly to Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Apple shares were little changed in premarket trading.
