Amazon’s next round of job cuts starts next week – report

  • Amazon (AMZN) plans another round of corporate job cuts next week, following around 14K layoffs in October 2025, as part of a target to reduce around 30,000 corporate positions, Reuters reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
  • The total cuts would be roughly the same as last year and could begin as soon as Tuesday, the people said. The layoffs could impact units like Amazon Web Services, retail, Prime Video, and human resources, known as People Experience and Technology, the report pointed out. The people cautioned that the details of Amazon’s (AMZN) plans could change.
  • The retailer tied October layoffs to the rise of AI software, and “this generation of AI is the most transformative technology we’ve seen since the Internet, and it’s enabling companies to innovate much faster than ever before.”
