Amazon.com (AMZN) is in talks to invest as much as $50 billion in OpenAI (OPENAI).
Amazon (AMZN) CEO Andy Jassy is leading the negotiations with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, according to a WSJ report on Thursday, which cited people familiar with the matter. A $50 billion investment could make Amazon the biggest contributor to OpenAI’s ongoing fundraising round.
The WSJ update comes after a report from The Information on Wednesday that Nvidia (NVDA), Amazon (AMZN), and Microsoft (MSFT) are reportedly in talks to invest up to $60 billion in OpenAI (OPENAI). Nvidia (NVDA), an existing investor whose chips power OpenAI’s AI models, is in talks to invest up to $30 billion.
The latest developments follow reports from earlier this week that said that SoftBank (SFTBY) is in talks to invest as much as an additional $30 billion in OpenAI.
