Bill Gates withdraws from India AI summit

  • Microsoft (MSFT) co-founder Bill Gates withdrew from India’s AI Impact summit just hours before he was set to deliver the keynote address on Thursday.
  • “After careful consideration, and to ensure the focus remains on the AI Summit’s key priorities, Mr. Gates will not be delivering his keynote address,” the Gates Foundation said in a statement just hours before he was due to speak. No reason was provided for the withdrawal.
  • Nvidia (NVDA) announced on Saturday that its CEO, Jensen Huang, will not attend the India AI Impact Summit, a major gathering of tech leaders taking place in the country’s capital city of New Delhi.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the event on Thursday, alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, Google (GOOG) CEO Sundar Pichai, OpenAI (OPENAI) CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic (ANTHRO) CEO Dario Amodei.
