NextEra Energy (NEE) expects to build 15-30 GW of new generation capacity for U.S. data centers by 2035, the company said in a presentation Tuesday.
30 GW is enough to power ~22M homes, or more than all of the residences in the largest U.S. state of California.
Much of the new power for data centers is expected to come from natural gas, and NextEra (NEE) said in its presentation that it has a pipeline of more than 20 GW of gas-fired generation, according to Reuters.
The company said it plans to engage with investors throughout March via several meetings to provide updates on its operations, financial performance, and strategic initiatives.
