Amazon adds Foxconn’s Belkin to the Buy with Prime program
Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced that Buy with Prime is now available on the website of consumer electronics retailer Belkin. The company now has hundreds of Prime eligible items available, including their best-selling screen protectors, docks, and headphones.
Belkin was founded by Chet Pipkin in 1983 as a small manufacturer of computer cables to meet the growing demand for connecting personal computers to printers. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Belkin expanded its product line to include surge protectors, USB storage devices, and accessories for smartphones and tablets1. In 2012, the company launched WeMo, a smart home product brand.
A significant milestone for the company was in 2013 when Belkin acquired Cisco Systems’ Home Networking Business Unit, including the Linksys brand. In 2018, Foxconn Technology (OTCPK:FXCOF) purchased Belkin for $886 million, with Belkin continuing to operate as an independent subsidiary. As of 2024, Belkin has offices worldwide and aims to be 100% carbon-neutral across its business by 2030.
