Generative artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, which is backed by Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and a host of other tech companies, is in talks to raise new funding that would value the company up to $40B, The Information reported.
The talks for Anthropic raising additional funds are still early, according to an existing investor that spoke with the news outlet.
OpenAI, which competes with Anthropic, is in talks to raise up to $7B in a new funding round that would value the company at roughly $150B.
Amazon invested $4B into San Francisco-based Anthropic, including a $2.75B tranche that came this past March. Other investors include Google (GOOG) (GOOGL) and Salesforce (CRM).
Anthropic did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
Earlier this month, Anthropic, announced it is launching a version of its generative AI chatbot Claude geared towards large businesses.
