- Generative artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, which is backed by Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and a host of other tech companies, is in talks to raise new funding that would value the company up to $40B, The Information reported.
- The talks for Anthropic raising additional funds are still early, according to an existing investor that spoke with the news outlet.
- OpenAI, which competes with Anthropic, is in talks to raise up to $7B in a new funding round that would value the company at roughly $150B.
- Amazon invested $4B into San Francisco-based Anthropic, including a $2.75B tranche that came this past March. Other investors include Google (GOOG) (GOOGL) and Salesforce (CRM).
- Anthropic did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
- Earlier this month, Anthropic, announced it is launching a version of its generative AI chatbot Claude geared towards large businesses.
