Amazon Web Services (AMZN) has fully embraced the artificial intelligence revolution, launching its AI Factories and a new lineup of Nova models at re:Invent 2025 in Las Vegas today.
While AWS already offers the largest global network of AI infrastructure, it also continues to offer new products for building and running AI applications.
“AWS has the broadest AI infrastructure in the world,” said AWS CEO Matt Garman during a keynote address on Tuesday. “We added 3.8 GW of data center capacity over the past 12 months, which is more than anyone else in the world … More unicorn startups have been built on AWS than anyone else. Every startup, and AI startups in particular, are flocking to AWS. More than half the startups in the world funded by VCs are using AWS.”
AI Factories and Nvidia integration
Garman announced the release of AWS AI Factories, which allow customers to run AWS AI infrastructure in their own data centers. By combining the latest AWS Trainium accelerators and Nvidia’s (NVDA) GPUs, specialized low-latency networking, high-performance storage, and AWS AI services, AI Factories accelerate AI buildouts by months or years compared to building independently.
AWS also released the Trainium3 AI chip today. It is already working on the Trainium4, which is being designed to integrate with Nvidia’s NVLink and MGX. It will be the first of a multi-generational collaboration between Nvidia and AWS for NVLink Fusion. Integrating NVLink Fusion allows AWS to further simplify deployment and systems management across its platforms.
“With NVIDIA NVLink Fusion coming to AWS Trainium4, we’re unifying our scale-up architecture with AWS’ custom silicon to build a new generation of accelerated platforms,” said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. “Together, Nvidia and AWS are creating the compute fabric for the AI industrial revolution — bringing advanced AI to every company, in every country, and accelerating the world’s path to intelligence.”
New Nova models, Nova Forge and AgentCore
AWS released its new line of Nova models as well. This includes the Nova 2 Lite, Nova 2 Pro, Nova 2 Omni and Nova 2 Sonic. AWS also announced the release of Amazon Nova Forge, which allows customers to build and deploy their own frontier models.
“It is a new service that introduces the concept of training models,” Garman said. “We call these resulting models Novellas, and you can run them from Bedrock. You import your model into Bedrock, and then you run inference on it. The results are specific to your company.”
Reddit (RDDT) used Nova Forge to create its own AI agents to effectively moderate content across its massive platform. Sony (SONY) Chief Digital Officer John Kodera said they are adopting Nova Forge to increase the efficiency of its compliance review process by 100%.
“One of the biggest opportunities that is going to change everyone’s business is agents,” Garman said. “That is why we launched Amazon’s Bedrock AgentCore. These agents can retain short- and long-term memory, so they get better over time. They are secure.”
AWS released Security Agent to develop more secure apps and an AWS DevOps Agent. These build on the recent November release of AWS Kiro, an agentic Integrated Development Environment for full-stack software development. It works alongside developers and teams to implement complex features into applications.
“Every single industry is in the process of being reinvented by AI,” Garman said. “But you haven’t yet seen the true return value of AI. The advent of AI agents has brought us to an inflection point in the AI industry – where it can create real value. I believe in the future there will be billions of agents in industries around the world. Getting to the level where every organization can use agents to get real value is going to take a lot of work.”
