Amazon (AMZN) is developing yet another way for shoppers to get their orders even faster with a “rush” pickup service at Amazon-owned stores.
In a bid to match Walmart’s (WMT) in-store pickup option, Amazon (AMZN) is looking to enable customers to pick up an online order at locations like Whole Foods or Amazon Go convenience stores.
The company reportedly plans to launch in at least one metro area by the first quarter of 2026.
According to an internal document viewed by Business Insider, Amazon (AMZN) aims to meet a “key customer need for faster, more convenient access” to its merchandise selection while “learning how to effectively combine [Amazon’s] physical and digital offerings.”
The new option will allow shoppers to curate a “unified” order from the company’s online marketplace and from items stocked in its physical locations with in-store pickup available within an hour.
Amazon (AMZN) has not yet responded to Seeking Alpha’s request for confirmation.
