Amazon says it will invest at least $3B in new data center in Mississippi

  • Amazon (AMZN) said on Thursday that it will invest at least $3B into a data center in Mississippi as it looks to further artificial intelligence and cloud computing-related growth.
  • The data center campus will be built in Warren County and is estimated to create at least 200 jobs, plus support for more than 300 additional full-time positions in the community, Amazon added. The new data center in Mississippi comes after Amazon’s $10B investment in two data centers in Madison County, which was announced in January 2024.
  • “This $3 billion investment by Amazon is the largest in Warren County’s history and another massive win for our state,” said Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves in a statement. “Amazon’s commitment will create hundreds of direct jobs and supply chain positions and further cement Mississippi as a leader in American innovation. The future of technology is being built right here in the heart of the ‘Digital Delta.’”
  • Amazon shares rose modestly in late morning Thursday trading.
