Anthropic is nearing completion of a new funding deal that would generate $3B to $5B and propel the artificial intelligence startup to a $170B valuation, according to Bloomberg.
The latest round is being led by Iconiq Capital, according to the report, which cited someone familiar with the matter. Anthropic has also discussed funding with Qatar Investment Authority and Singapore’s sovereign fund, GIC.
Earlier this year, Anthropic raised $3.5B in a round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, which gave the company a post-money valuation of $61.5B.
Anthropic, the creator of the popular Claude family of large language models, is backed by tech giants such as Amazon (AMZM) and Google (GOOGL)(GOOG).
Microsoft-backed (NASDAQ:MSFT) OpenAI has also been supported by a series of funding rounds that rocketed the ChatGPT-maker to a $300B valuation.
