Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook met with President Trump at the White House on Tuesday, Politico reported.
The 64-year-old Cook was seen going through security, the news outlet added, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
The nature of the visit is unclear, but it comes after President Trump said earlier this month that he “had a little problem with Tim Cook.”
“He is building all over India,” Trump said on his visit to the Middle East, referring to Cook and Apple and its manufacturing partners plans to expand in India. “I don’t want you building in India.” As a result of their conversation, Trump said Apple will be “upping their production in the United States,” Bloomberg News reported.
Apple said in February that it would invest $500B in the U.S. over the next four years.
Trump’s ire came after Cook tried to assuage investors’ tariffs-related concern on Apple’s most recent earnings call. He told analysts he believes the “majority of iPhones sold in the U.S. will have India as their country of origin,” while Vietnam will produce the majority of iPads, Macs, Apple Watches and AirPods.
Despite pressure from President Trump, Apple and its manufacturing partners are likely to keep the hubs of iPhone production in India and China, Wedbush Securities said recently.
