Apple to cut 100 services jobs amid priority shift – report

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) plans to cut about 100 jobs in its services segment as the iPhone maker shifts focus to other critical divisions, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The move will have the biggest impact on teams responsible for the Apple Books app and Apple Bookstore. The job cuts will include some engineering roles and other service teams, including the one that runs Apple News, the report said.

The exact number of layoffs remains unclear. The company informed affected employees across different teams in senior VP Eddy Cue’s services group on Tuesday.

The iPhone maker no longer views Apple Books as one of its top offerings and has been reorganizing teams amid a tilt to artificial intelligence. Despite the job cut, it is expected that the Books app will get new features over time, according to people with knowledge.

Previously, in April, Apple (AAPL) laid off more than 600 workers as the company canceled work on its electric vehicle project.
