Apple exec Riccio to depart company: report
- Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) executive Dan Riccio, who has focused on the company’s Vision Pro mixed reality headset since 2021, is leaving the company, Bloomberg reported.
- Riccio, who graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.A. in mechanical engineering in 1986, is set to leave the tech giant sometime this month, the news outlet reported, citing people with knowledge of the move.
- The employees in Riccio’s Vision Products Group will now become the responsibility of Apple hardware executive John Ternus, the news outlet added. The Vision Products Group will be led by Riccio’s right-hand man, Mike Rockwell.
- Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
- Riccio has spent 26 years at Apple, working in various roles. In January 2021, he stepped down from being a senior vice president to be a vice president and left Apple’s executive team. In addition to the Vision Pro, Riccio worked on other products, such as AirPods, the iPad Pro, large screen iPhones and Apple’s failed car project.
- Another Apple executive, Dan Rosckes, its head of procurement, is also retiring in short order.
