Apple iOS 18.1 rolls out next week, iOS 18.2 Beta now available
Apple Intelligence (NASDAQ:AAPL) finally arrives to the iPhone as the iOS 18.1 update rolls out next week, while the iOS 18.2 Beta developer update is available now.
It remains to be seen if the arrival of Apple Intelligence features will lead to a spike in iPhone 16 demand, as several analysts have surmised.
The iOS 18.1 update will be released sometime early next week, likely on October 28. It will be compatible with all iPhone 16 models and the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models. The Apple Intelligence features will initially only be available in U.S. English.
The update will include new writing tools, a new Siri interface, text and email summarizations, a “clean up” feature in Photos, improved audio transcriptions and Safari improvements.
iOS 18.2 introduces other English-speaking locations such as the U.K., Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa.
The iOS 18.2 update also features artificial intelligence-powered image generation, an Image Wand that transforms rough images into detailed pictures. It also includes the anticipated Genmoji, which allows users to create their own emojis to share.
It builds on the writing tools introduced in the iOS 18.1 update, according to 9to5Mac. It also integrates OpenAI’s ChatGPT into the writing tools feature and Siri.
Additional Apple Intelligence features are expected to arrive in early 2025.
Apple shares were down 2.7% by late market trading on Wednesday.
