Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone Air sold out in China “within minutes” of the smartphone’s launch in the country, the South China Morning Post reported.
Apple shares were little changed in premarket trading on Friday.
Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
Pre-orders for the device, which was announced last month, started in China earlier this week after the major Chinese telecom operators received regulatory approvals for eSIM services.
At just 5.6 millimeters thick, the iPhone Air is Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever. The 6.5-inch device has a 120 Hz refresh rate and is made from spacecraft titanium. It comes in four different colors: sky blue, light black, gold and white; and it also has Ceramic Shield for better scratch resistance and toughness.
The iPhone Air comes with Apple’s A19 Pro silicon, which includes a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU.
News of the iPhone Air’s reception in China comes during Apple CEO Tim Cook’s visit to China. Cook pledged to increase investment in China during his visit, and recently met with Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng.
