Apple’s iPhone 16 sales surge 20% in China since debut – report
Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) new iPhone 16 series shipments in China jumped 20% in their first three weeks compared to the iPhone 15 models in 2023, Reuters reported, citing data from Counterpoint Research.
The research firm noted that it was seeing strong sales of iPhone 16 series in China, and that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models were doing particularly well, with their combined sales rising 44% compared with their equivalent 2023 versions, the report added.
However, overall iPhone unit sales in China fell 2% year over year during the three-week period because of decreased sales of older models and increased competition with Huawei Technologies’ Mate and Pura series phones, the report noted.
Last month, Huawei unveiled its Z-shaped trifold phone Mate XT just a few hours after Apple launched the iPhone 16 models.
Online retailers in China, reportedly, were cutting the prices of the new iPhone 16 series ahead of the official launch.
