Stock futures were slightly higher Monday morning as investors positioned themselves ahead of this week’s final Federal Reserve policy-setting meeting of the year.
Here are some of Monday’s biggest stock movers:
Biggest stock gainers
- Confluent (CFLT) +32% – Shares soared after a WSJ report said IBM (IBM) is in advanced talks to acquire the data-streaming platform for roughly $11B. A deal could be announced as soon as Monday. The acquisition would bolster IBM’s hybrid-cloud and AI strategy by integrating Confluent’s real-time data streaming capabilities, strengthening its competitive position against AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Carvana (CVNA) +8% and CRH (CRH) +6% – Shares climbed following the announcement that both companies will be added to the benchmark S&P 500 index. The inclusion is set to take effect before the market opens on December 22, reflecting their growing prominence and investor confidence.
