Boeing delivered just 14 jets in October, says several weeks before full production
Boeing (NYSE:BA) said Tuesday it delivered 14 commercial jets in October, its lowest monthly total since November 2020 and less than half of the 34 planes handed over in the same month last year, as a strike by the company’s largest union halted much of its production.
Boeing (BA) delivered nine of 737 MAX jets, four 787 Dreamliners and one 767 freighter, and recorded 63 gross aircraft orders in the month with no cancellations.
The company has delivered 305 jets this year through October compared to 559 aircraft for top rival Airbus, and has booked 378 gross orders YTD, netting 141 new sales after cancellations and a U.S. accounting provision for at-risk deals.
Boeing (BA) said it will take several weeks before it can fully resume building passenger planes, with a delay in restarting plants in Washington state and Oregon due to multiple steps needed to resume production.
The strike shut down production of the 737 MAX and 777 passenger planes and a cargo-carrying version of the 767 plane, but Boeing (BA) continued building 787s, which are produced by non-union workers in South Carolina.
