Boeing hires Northrop executive to revamp Pentagon projects – WSJ
Boeing (NYSE:BA) has hired Northrop Grumman (NOC) executive Colin Miler to run its Phantom Works division, which oversees research efforts for its Department of Defense business and is involved in bidding for U.S. government projects, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
The Phantom Works division, which currently is divided into separate organizations within Boeing’s (BA) defense business, also will be combined into a single business unit, according to the report.
Separately, Boeing (BA) has begun notifying workers who will be laid off as part of its 10% workforce reduction – or ~17K jobs – in the coming months.
The cuts are far-reaching, hitting workers in Boeing (BA) plants across the U.S. in all three of the company’s divisions, including commercial airplanes, defense and global services, according to The Seattle Times.
News that Boeing (BA) would send out the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification in mid-November was widely expected.
