Boeing reports 72 July gross orders in rare monthly sales win over Airbus

Boeing (NYSE:BA) +1.6% in Tuesday’s trading after scoring a rare win over rival Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF) (OTCPK:EADSY) in July orders for new commercial jets, but it still trails its European rival in orders by a wide margin YTD.

Boeing (BA) reported delivery of 43 planes in July, one less than in June and flat compared to July 2023; of the total, Boeing delivered 32 of its 737 family models and six twin-aisle 787 Dreamliners.

For the first seven months of the year, total deliveries are down 29% Y/Y to 218 commercial jets, lagging behind Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF) (OTCPK:EADSY), which has delivered 400 jets YTD and 77 in July.

Boeing (BA) also reported 72 gross orders in July, up from 52 in the same month last year, including orders for 57 737 MAX planes that were partly announced during the Farnborough Air Show; Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF) (OTCPK:EADSY) tallied 59 gross orders in July.

Boeing’s (BA) gross order total so far this year through July 31 now totals 228, less than half of the 579 gross orders in the first seven months of 2023; after removing cancellations and conversions, net orders total just 186 orders YTD.

Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF) (OTCPK:EADSY) has reported 386 gross orders and 367 net orders so far this year.
