Boeing’s new CEO met with FAA head, discussed safety
Boeing (NYSE:BA) Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg last week met with the head of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and discussed safety and quality plans, Reuters reported Saturday.
Ortberg on Friday sent an email to employees describing the discussion about Boeing’s (BA) “focus on true culture change, empowering employees to speak up when they see potential issues and bringing the right resources together to solve them.”
Since January, the FAA has prevented Boeing (BA) from expanding production of its best-selling 737 Max jet. The agency implemented the cap after a new 737 Max 9 flown by Alaska Airlines lost a door panel during a flight.
Ortberg on August 8 took over as CEO. Last week, he held his first board meeting as CEO and met with Pentagon and other officials.
Boeing (BA) is negotiating a new labor contract with a union that represents thousands of workers.
