Broadcom isn’t currently evaluating Intel takeover offer – Bloomberg
Broadcom (AVGO) isn’t currently considering an offer for Intel Corp. (NASDAQ:INTC).
Broadcom (AVGO) was previously assessing a potential bid for chipmaker Intel (INTC), according to a Bloomberg report on Saturday, which cited people familiar with the matter. Advisers continue to pitch ideas to Broadcom.
A representative for Broadcom (AVGO) declined to comment to Bloomberg.
The report comes after the WSJ on Friday said Qualcomm (QCOM) has recently approached Intel (INTC) about a takeover offer, though one source familiar cautioned that a deal is “far from certain.” Bloomberg on Saturday confirmed that Qualcomm made a friendly approach to Intel in recent weeks.
A potential Broadcom (AVGO) deal for Intel (INTC) would likely face regulatory challenges, as Broadcom’s in planned acquisition of Qualcomm (QCOM) was scuttled in March 2018 when the U.S. government blocked the transaction over national security concerns.
