Broadcom unveils VMware-related tools to boost AI growth

Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) unveiled several tools related to its recent VMware acquisition on Tuesday in an effort to boost its growth in the booming artificial intelligence market.
The three tools announced by the Hock Tan-led company include the combination of fixed Wireless Access and satellite connections to support in the VMware VeloCloud Edge 710 appliance as well as the new VMware VeloCloud Edge 720 and 740 appliances; it also unveiled the new VMware VeloCloud SASE for cybersecurity; and VMware Edge Compute Stack product enhancements.
Broadcom is looking to increase its exposure to the edge computing market, which is expected to be worth $232B this year, according to research firm IDC. Included in that $232B is an increased focus on software-defined products and services to boost both AI and non-AI workloads alike.
“We uniquely offer enterprises a good, better, best approach to connectivity at the edge by allowing them to tweak real-time WAN performance, gain insights from the network, and program the network,” said Broadcom executive Sanjay Uppal. “This convergence of the underlay network enables enterprises to build networks in minutes to support today’s and tomorrow’s workloads.”
Broadcom shares were down 1.1% in premarket trading.
