Chinese authorities arrested four Taiwanese employees who work at a Foxconn (OTCPK:FXCOF) factory in Zhengzhou, which serves as the largest assembly plant for Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhones, according to a report Thursday by the Wall Street Journal.
Authorities provided a vague reasoning for the arrests. The Taiwan Mainland Affairs council said the employees were accused of a breach of trust, according to the report.
The council also said the allegations were bizarre, and could lead to a loss of investor confidence in China, especially if the arrests are eventually deemed unjustified. It urged for a rapid and transparent investigation.
The Zhengzhou factory has been dubbed iPhone city. Foxconn said they do not expect any financial impact from the detentions.
