China market regulator issues competition compliance guidance for smartphone sector: report

China’s market regulator has issued an anti-unfair competition compliance guidance for smartphone manufacturers and mobile application platform companies in Shenzhen, Reuters reported, citing Chinese state media.

No companies were named in the report.

China’s smartphone market is dominated by companies such as vivo, Xiaomi (OTCPK:XIACF) (OTCPK:XIACY), Huawei Technologies, Apple (AAPL), Oppo, and Honor.

Earlier this month it was reported that Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone sales in China have recently surged, driving the company to capture 25% of the Chinese smartphone market. Separately, according to Counterpoint Research, iPhone sales in China soared 22% compared to a year ago levels in the first month after the iPhone 17 series launched, even as the broader market softened.
