- China’s solar installations soared to a new monthly record in May, as developers raced to complete projects ahead of upcoming regulations that could significantly reduce renewable energy prices.
- According to data from the National Energy Administration, the country added 93 gigawatts of solar capacity last month—four times the amount installed in May 2024, Bloomberg reported.
- This surpasses the previous monthly record of 71 gigawatts, set in December.
- Remarkably, China installed more solar power in May alone than any other country did throughout all of 2024, according to BloombergNEF.
