- CNBC, the popular financial news organization that was recently spun out of Comcast (CMCSA) into a new networks-focused company, Versant (VSNT), is restructuring its newsroom, Reuters reported Thursday, citing at least four sources.
- The news organization plans to merge its TV and digital operations, which would result in nearly a dozen layoffs, including the departure of the website’s managing editor, Jeff McCracken, the report said.
- The cuts are part of an overhaul under Editor-in-Chief David Cho, as CNBC prepares to introduce a paywall on its website, sources told Reuters.
-
The layoffs are not aimed at cutting costs, and the news organization plans to add some 40 roles in the coming year, the report said.
