Coca-Cola brings back the Barrilitos brand to Texas and California
Coca-Cola Company (NYSE:KO) announced the highly anticipated regional relaunch of Barrilitos in California and Texas.
Barrilitos has a rich history dating back to 1938 when it was first launched as a bottled sparkling soft drink in Monterrey, Mexico. The brand remained a popular carbonated beverage for several decades before becoming part of The Coca-Cola Company’s portfolio in 2008. In 2017, Coca-Cola introduced Barrilitos Aguas Frescas, a line of non-carbonated flavored water beverages inspired by traditional Mexican and Central American drinks. This launch marked Coca-Cola’s (KO) entry into the Aguas Frescas category.
The beverage giant highlighted that Barrilitos stands out not just for its taste, but for its commitment to quality. Each bottle was noted to be crafted with fruit flavors and cane sugar, striking a perfect harmony between sweetness and effervescence. Barrilitos is available in two sizes (a 12oz glass bottle and a 1.5L PET multiserve bottle) and comes in four varieties (mandarin, apple, pineapple, and fruit punch).
Looking ahead, the brand is seen having a unique appeal to multicultural Gen Z’ers, Millennials, and families.
