Anthropic (ANTHRO) unveiled a new feature called Claude Code Security built into Claude Code on the web.
Cybersecurity stocks were in the red on Friday. CrowdStrike (CRWD) and Cloudflare (NET) each slumped about 6%. Datadog (DDOG) fell around 3%, while Fortinet (FTNT) dipped about 2%.
The company said it is releasing the new capability as a limited research preview to Enterprise and Team customers, with expedited access for maintainers of open-source repositories, so people can work together to refine its capabilities and ensure it is deployed responsibly. Open-source maintainers need to apply for the free, expedited access.
Anthropic noted that the new feature scans codebases for security vulnerabilities and suggests targeted software patches for human review, allowing teams to find and fix security issues that traditional methods often miss.
The company added that it recently showed that Claude can detect new, high-severity vulnerabilities. But the same capabilities that help defenders find and fix vulnerabilities could help attackers exploit them, the company added.
Anthropic — which is backed by Amazon (AMZN) and Alphabet’s (GOOG) (GOOGL) Google — said Claude Code Security is intended to put this power in the hands of defenders and protect code against this new category of AI-enabled attack.
Claude Code Security builds on more than a year of research into Claude’s cybersecurity capabilities, the company added.
