Digital sales jump on Thanksgiving after AI agents don’t take the day off

Salesforce updated that it anticipates digital sales on Thanksgiving will reach $36 billion globally and $8.6 billion in the U.S.

The software company reported that as of 2:00 p.m. Eastern time, global spending was up 7.9% year-over-year to $13.1 billion, and spending in the U.S. was up 5.8% to $2.6 billion.

As expected, mobile drove the majority of digital sales on Thanksgiving as consumers relaxed. 80% of traffic and 75% of orders will come from mobile devices in the U.S., noted Salesforce.

Salesforce said traffic from third-party AI agents drove significantly higher conversion rates than social media during the first two days of Cyber Week (Tuesday and Wednesday). Globally, AI agent traffic was converted to sales at 6X typical traffic, and in the U.S., it converted at 3X the pace of normal digital traffic.
