The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposed fines of ~$3.1 million against Boeing (NYSE:BA) safety violations that occurred from September 2023 through February 2024, including those linked to the Alaska Airlines (ALK) incident of losing a door plug panel on its fuselage during midflight.
The FAA said that it has found hundreds of quality system violations at both Boeing’s 737 factory in Renton, Washington, and its subcontractor Spirit AeroSystems’ (NYSE:SPR) plant in Wichita, Kansas.
Boeing (NYSE:BA) has 30 days to respond to the regulators’ penalty letter.
Furthermore, the FAA added that a Boeing (BA) employee pressured a member of Boeing’s ODA unit to approve a 737 MAX aircraft “so Boeing could meet its delivery schedule, even though the ODA member determined the aircraft did not comply with applicable standards.”
