Ford August vehicle sales up 13.4% led by demand for hybrids
Ford (NYSE:F) sold 182,985 vehicles in August, an increase of 13.4% from last year and up 4.3% YTD. Hybrid vehicles were again the most popular as the company sold 49.8% more in August, followed by a 28.9% increase in sales for EVs. Ford (F) sold 157,647 internal combustion engine, or ICE, vehicles, an increase of 9.9% from August 2023.
Within the Ford (F) banner, the Mustang (+55.4%), Explorer SUV (+97.1%) and Ranger pick-up (173%) were the most popular, followed by strong sales for the Maverick pick-up.
Sales of the Ford Transit Connect commercial van fell 42%, offset by a 23.5% increase in heavy truck sales, resulting in a 6.7% gain in sales in E-Transit vehicles.
The Ford F-series remains the number one production vehicle for Ford (F) with almost 100K vehicles produced in August and more than 651K YTD.
