FuriosaAI, a semiconductor startup based in Seoul, has secured its first significant commercial agreement, marking a key milestone in its effort to develop AI chips capable of competing with industry leader Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA).
This development comes just months after the company declined an $800 million acquisition proposal from Meta Platforms (META).
The agreement follows the final approval of FuriosaAI’s RNGD chip by LG AI Research, concluding a seven-month evaluation process focused on performance and energy efficiency.
Chief Executive Officer June Paik told Bloomberg, LG will deploy the RNGD chip to support its Exaone large-language models, signaling a critical endorsement of FuriosaAI’s technology by a major Korean enterprise.
