General Motors Q3 deliveries down 2.2%, EV sales climb 60% to record high
General Motors (NYSE:GM) delivered 659,601 vehicles in the third quarter, 2.2% less from last year, while electric vehicle sales set another record for the quarter, up 60% year-over-year to 32,195 total deliveries, a gain of 46% from the second quarter. As a result, GM’s shares of the total U.S. EV market increased to 9.5% from 7.1% in Q2.
By brand, EV sales were fueled by strong demand for the Chevy Blazer and Equinox with sales up 21% for the Blazer, and 9,700 Equinox EV sold in the first full quarter on the market. Chevy will also launch a more affordable Silverado EV LT model in Q4.
Cadillac sales were up 5% in Q3, the best third quarter for the brand since 2016. Buick sales were up 8%, its best quarter since 2021, while GMC sales were up 6%.
