Global PC shipments rose 9% in 2025; supply constraints cloud 2026 outlook

Global shipments of desktops, notebooks and workstations rose 9.2% in 2025 to 279.5 million units, following a 10.1% increase in the fourth quarter, as per a report by Omdia.

Notebook shipments rose 8% in 2025 to 220.4 million units, while desktop shipments increased 14.4% to 59 million units. Omdia said tighter memory and storage supply emerged during the year, pushing costs higher and prompting vendors in December to signal price increases, which has already weighed on shipment expectations for 2026.

Between the first and fourth quarters of 2025, mainstream PC memory and storage costs rose 40% to 70%, Omdia said, adding that supply next year is unlikely to fully meet demand.

Lenovo (OTCPK:LNVGY) led the market in the fourth quarter and for the full year, shipping about 71 million units in 2025, up 14.6% from the last year.

HP (NYSE:HPQ) ranked second, while Dell (NYSE:DELL) posted its strongest quarterly performance of 2025 with a 26% annual increase in fourth-quarter shipments.

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) was the fastest-growing vendor for the full year, with shipments up 16.4% to about 28 million units, while Asus (OTCPK:ASUUY) completed the top five with around 20 million units shipped.
