- General Motors (NYSE:GM) recalls 62,468 vehicles in the U.S. due to a fault in the brake pressure sensor assembly that may allow brake fluid to leak, which increases the risk of an electrical short.
- This could potentially generate excessive heat and cause fire, even when the vehicle is turned off, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
- The recall specifically affects certain Chevrolet Silverado vehicles from model years 2019 to 2024, with about 1% of the recalled vehicles expected to have the defect.
- The defect originated from the use of an unauthorized chemical by the brake assembly supplier, which caused a component to degrade over time.
