Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) tapped former U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for a senior advisory role, marking a return to the Wall Street firm after two decades, the Wall Street bank said on Tuesday.
Before serving as the U.K. PM between Oct. 2022 and July 2024, Sunak was Chancellor of the Exchequer from February 2020 to July 2022 and held several positions prior to that.
His finance career started at Goldman (NYSE:GS), first as a summer intern in the investment banking arm and later as an analyst during the 2001-2004 period. Rishi still remains a sitting MP in northern England.
“In his role, he will work with leaders across the firm to advise our clients globally on a range of important topics, sharing his unique perspectives and insights on the macroeconomic and geopolitical landscape,” Goldman Sachs Chairman and CEO David Solomon said in a statement. “He will also spend time with our people around the world, contributing to our culture of ongoing learning and development.”
