Google Gemini says OpenAI’s GPT-4 is the most advanced LLM: Baird
- Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Gemini generative artificial intelligence chatbot said that OpenAI’s GPT-4 is the most advanced large language model, investment firm Baird said.
- Analyst Colin Sebastian asked the Google chatbot to rank the most advanced models and OpenAI’s model came out on top, followed by Google’s own PaLM2, which was introduced in May 2023 at its I/O developer conference. Rounding out the top four were Anthropic’s Claude 2 and Meta’s (META) LLaMA 2. (Meta unveiled the most recent version of its LLaMA 3 model — Llama 3.1 405B — last month.)
- Microsoft invested multiple billions of dollars into OpenAI in January 2023, just a few months after its generative AI chatbot ChatGPT took the world by storm. Since then, OpenAI has introduced several new models, including GPT-4o in May. It also unveiled a smaller, more cost-effective version, GPT-4o mini, last month.
- The release of the GPT-4o model in May led to a spike in revenue for OpenAI, research firm Appfigures found.
