Google News general manager Shailesh Prakash resigns after two years: report
The executive who had been tasked with supercharging Google News’ relationships with publishers has resigned, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing people familiar with the situation.
According to the report, vice president and general manager Shailesh Prakash’s resignation comes during an ongoing rift between news outlets and Google over how its search engine drives traffic to their sites.
Prakash was lured to Google from the Washington Post in 2022, where he spent more than 10 years overseeing the newspaper’s data and technology efforts.
Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
