Alphabet unit (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google’s AI model Gemini can now turn photos into eight-second video clips with sound.
The photo-to-video capability is starting to roll out today to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in select countries globally. These same capabilities are also available in Flow, Google’s AI filmmaking tool, according to the company.
Google said that to turn photos into videos, users would need to select ‘Videos’ from the tool menu in the prompt box and upload a photo. Then, describe the scene and any audio instructions. Following this, the still image transforms into a dynamic video.
The video can be shared and also be downloaded.
Google noted that all generated videos include a visible watermark to show they are AI-generated and an invisible SynthID digital watermark.
Users can use the thumbs up and down buttons on the generated videos to give the company feedback.
Google launched its video generation model Veo 3 in May, and last week, the company expanded access to Google AI Pro subscribers in over 150 countries.
On Wednesday, xAI launched an updated version of its flagship AI model, Grok 4. Grok would compete with AI models like Microsoft (MSFT)-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
