Meta Platform’s (NASDAQ:META) Instagram on Wednesday said that it is rolling out globally “Instagram for iPad” on iPad models that support iPadOS 15.1 and later.
Meta’s popular photo-sharing app announced that Instagram for iPad is designed to take advantage of the bigger screen to give people more features with fewer taps.
The new app for iPads will directly open to a feed of Reels, as the parent company Meta plans to increase user engagement on short-form-video format in the absence of its rival TikTok.
“We’ve made it easier to catch up on your messages and notifications with layouts that display both tabs. When you watch reels, you can expand the comments while the reel stays at full size, making it easy to catch up on the best reactions without missing a moment,” said Instagram in its blog post.

The app on iPads will also provide a new “Following” tab to make sure that users do not miss updates from their favorite accounts.
Instagram said in its announcement blog that the new tablet design will also be coming soon to Android.
