Intel Corp. (INTC) is in early discussions to purchase artificial intelligence chip startup SambaNova Systems Inc.
Intel is talking about terms of a deal with SambaNova, which has been using bankers to gauge interest from possible buyers, according to a Bloomberg report on Thursday, which cited people familiar with the matter. There’s no certainty that a deal will be reached and another buyer could also emerge.
Any transaction will likely value SambaNova at less than the $5 billion it was valued at in a funding round in 2021, according to the report.
